Substitute position: Westbrook High School, Westbrook
WHS is seeking a substitute Latin teacher (grades 9-12) for potentially the last two weeks of this 23-24 school year (06/03/24-06/14/24). The full-time teacher, Barry Francoeur, is going on paternity leave.
Substitute coverage will also be needed in the fall, but the details of the paternity leave are yet to be determined. If the paternity leave is approved as requested, a substitute will also be needed every Friday for the entire 24-25 school year.
WHS uses Suburani, and the 24-25 school year will offer 2 sections of Latin I, 2 sections of Latin II, 1 section of Latin III, and 1 section of Latin IV. The school is on a block schedule, so only 3 of those 6 sections would be on the daily schedule. Barry would still be in school 4 days a week to take care of all the planning and grading.
This could be a great opportunity for an aspiring Latin teacher who needs some experience, or maybe a retired teacher who would like a consistent Latin substitute position. A more formal application process will follow once the paternity leave is fully approved.
