In the world of film and television, Nolan’s coming film continues to inspire book clubs, reflections, and commentaries – including this trailer walk-through with Professor Kim Shelton of UC Berkeley and this article comparing US hockey player Jack Hughes to Odysseus. Over on Amazon Prime, a new period drama was just released titled Seeking Persephone. It’s Pride and Prejudice meets Beauty and the Beast encompassed within a highly optimistic take on the Hades and Persephone myth. The monologuing is quite strong in the screen adaptation, which is based on a more “show don’t tell” book.

If your “to-read” list isn’t long enough already, last month, award-winning author Saara El-Arifi released her historical fantasy retelling of the legendary queen of Egypt, Cleopatra: A Novel.

In the art world, a (modern) mural in Greece, celebrating olives, opera, and resilience, won “Best Mural in the World” for 2025. Across the Adriatic, digs at the Villa Sora, buried by Vesuvius but outside of Pompeii, have uncovered avian frescoes and perhaps a glimpse into something any homeowner goes through – renovations.
