MCA Fall 2026 Meeting

Latin and Classics Teachers of Maine,

You are cordially invited to the Maine Classical Association Fall Meeting on Saturday, November 7th, at Bowdoin College (Mills, Room 210).

Each year, the Maine Classical Association hosts two meetings, one in the fall and one in the spring. The fall meeting often features talks by Maine professors on current or recent research, while at the spring meeting the emphasis is more on pedagogy. This fall, Maya Chakravorty (Connecticut College) and Brigitte Keslinke (Bowdoin College) will present their research on familial exemplarity in Quintilian and pottery production at Antioch-on-the Orontes, respectively. Then, back by popular demand, a panel of Bowdoin undergraduates will share research on a variety of interesting topics.

Pre-registration begins at 8:30 and the meeting will commence at 9:00. We will have a break for coffee and refreshments at 10:15. The meeting will conclude with an election for the positions of Secretary and Treasurer, after which we’ll break for lunch. Following lunch we will have our business meeting, which everyone is welcome to attend but it is fine if you do not stay.

The 2026 ballot for MCA vacancies is as follows. If you are interested in running for an office, please email our president (Jenn Rennie, [email protected]) by the RSVP deadline.

Secretary: open

Treasurer: Ross Shaler

The fee for this fall’s meeting is $20 ($10 for students). CEUs will be available for this event. Please RSVP by October 7th. We look forward to seeing you!
