Snow on the Ground, Invitation in your Inbox

Latin and Classics Teachers of Maine,

You are cordially invited to the Maine Classical Association Spring Meeting on Saturday, May 3rd, at Gardiner High School.

We have an exciting line-up of presentations this spring, covering a range of topics, from translation alignment, to building classroom culture that centers deep thinking, to navigating the “back end” of public school life. We’ll be hearing about classroom practices at the college and secondary level, so join us and find out what colleagues from different areas are doing to meet needs, support and challenge learners, and, let’s be honest, survive, amidst the challenges we face as teachers of readers and thinkers and language learners in 2025. The meeting will conclude with MCA elections and lunch.

Refreshments begin at 8:30 and the meeting proper will commence at 9:00. Following lunch we will have our business meeting, which everyone is welcome to attend but it is fine if you do not stay.

The 2025 ballot for MCA elections is as follows. If you are interested in running for an office, please email me (David Dyke: [email protected]) by the RSVP deadline.

President: Jennifer Rennie

Vice President: David Wright

Secretary: Ross Shaler

Treasurer: Katherine Collins

CANE Representative: Heidi Paulding

Media Coordinator: Emma Holloway

The fee for this spring’s meeting is $20, and lunch/refreshments are $15 ($35 total). All costs are waived for first time guests! CEUs will be available for this event. Please RSVP by Thursday, April 17th. We look forward to seeing you!

Sincerely,

David Dyke
