The Maine Classical Association invites you to attend its Spring Meeting on Saturday, May 22nd, from 8:30 to 11:45 AM via Zoom. Attendance is free, and CEUs will be available. You can register for the meeting here. Those who register will receive a Zoom link via email on Friday, the 21st.
In a departure from previous formats, the meeting will be structured around two reading sessions (one prose, one poetry) on Latin authors. These reading groups are meant to offer an opportunity to explore less commonly read texts, learn and share with colleagues, and enjoy ourselves. Attendees can actively participate or just listen; whatever is comfortable for you. The prose reading will be from Cornelius Nepos’ Vita Hannibailis (4-6), and Silius Italicus’ Punica XVII (370-405) will be the focus of the poetry session. Feel free to look these passages over before the meeting, though no preparation or prior knowledge of the texts is necessary. You can review the Meeting Program here to find a more detailed schedule and information on the reading passages. Please email Ross Shaler with any questions.
