From Bernie Fortier at Lewiston:
Dear Latin Colleagues,
After many emails and much effort, a few of us have set up a one-day workshop to work on proficiency based learning. We felt that it would be better to work together and share ideas than to work in isolation. I know many instructors feel that PBL will go away like many other state intiatives, but it is the law of the state and I want to be prepared for it.
Here are the details we have worked out so far. There may be other details forthcoming.
Place: Lewiston HS
Time: Friday, January 29 from 8:00 or 8:30 to 2:00 (starting time will depend on driving distances of participants)
What to bring: any relevant materials such as standards, rubrics, assessments, etc.
CEUs: We are still trying to determine if people can obtain CEUs.
Agenda:
1. Which standards/priority standards and supporting standards/performance indicators you are going to focus on in your Latin classes?
2. How you are going to meet these various standards and performance indicators. What assessments are you going to use?
3. What rubrics will you use? We may also want to create some rubrics.
4. Any other topics related to PBL which people may want to discuss.
Lunch: to be determined. We may be able to offer lunch through our culinary arts program at a reasonable price
